ESTAC Troyes' Nicolas Lemaître is close to signing with Rennes. The 29-year-old goalkeeper has already undergone the first part of his medical.

What happened?

Lemaître was forced to step away from the pitch after suffering a cruciate ligament tear at the end of October. He was the first-choice goalkeeper for ESTAC Troyes last summer, with four clean sheets and nine goals conceded in 10 matches.

Why it matters for ESTAC Troyes

The transfer will see Lemaître join Rennes as a backup for Brice Samba, who is currently at the World Cup with France. The young Mathys Silistrie is expected to go out on loan to gain more experience.
