ESTAC Troyes' goalkeeper Hillel Konaté has achieved a significant milestone, earning a nomination for the prestigious Best Goalkeeper award in French Ligue 2. The Burkinabè international is among the five finalists for the 2026 UNFP Awards, recognizing his outstanding performances throughout the season with the club.
Konaté's journey this season has been remarkable, transitioning from a backup role at ESTAC Troyes to an indispensable first-choice keeper. He seized his opportunity following an injury to teammate Nicolas Lemaître, quickly establishing himself as a reliable presence between the posts for the team.
The 31-year-old shot-stopper has been a pivotal figure in ESTAC's campaign, contributing significantly to their promotion push to Ligue 1. With six clean sheets to his name, Konaté's composure in one-on-one situations and the confidence he instilled in his backline were crucial, helping Troyes clinch vital matches.
His consistent top-class performances have not only earned him this UNFP nomination but also positioned him as a serious contender for a recall to the Burkina Faso national team. Konaté's fellow nominees for the Best Goalkeeper award include Quentin Braat (Rodez), Yehvann Diouf (Reims), Gautier Larsonneur (Saint-Étienne), and Guévin Bassan (Red Star).
Having previously played for Châteauroux and Valenciennes, Konaté has reached full maturity in his career. His experience and leadership have been evident, making him a cornerstone of the ESTAC defense and a standout player in French Ligue 2 this season.
